[00:00:00] Welcome to Affirming Truths! I’m your host, Carla Arges, and I’m so glad you’re here. This is a safe space to grow in faith, overcome struggles, and root your identity in Christ. [00:01:00] Today’s episode is one you might be tempted to skip, but I encourage you to stick with me. I want to invite you into my world as a Christian mental health coach and share what I do. Maybe you’ve heard me talk about my struggles with BPD, bipolar disorder, and past trauma, but I’ve never fully explained how I help women heal and thrive.

What Does a Christian Mental Health Coach Do?
I work with women worldwide who struggle with mental illness, past trauma, intrusive negative thoughts, depression, and anxiety. My goal is to help you master these challenges, process pain, and move forward with peace and purpose. Healing is a mind-body-spirit process, and I help you integrate faith, neuroscience, and trauma-informed strategies.

[00:04:00] Many Christian women believe they should just "pray more" to overcome struggles. While faith is essential, healing also involves understanding how the brain works, how trauma affects the nervous system, and how to rewire negative thought patterns. Romans 12:2 tells us to "be transformed by the renewing of our mind"—but how do we actually do that? Science backs up what Scripture has always said: our minds can be renewed, and we can experience lasting change.

[00:06:00] The core beliefs you developed in childhood shape how you see yourself. Many women struggle with thoughts like:

  • "I have to earn my worth."

  • "If people knew the real me, they’d reject me."

  • "I’ll always mess up, so why try?"

These beliefs keep you stuck in fear, perfectionism, and people-pleasing. But coaching helps you identify and rewrite these beliefs with God’s truth.

[00:08:00] Trauma also impacts your nervous system, making you more reactive. If you often feel triggered or overwhelmed, it may be because your nervous system is dysregulated. Coaching helps expand your "window of tolerance," so you can respond with clarity and confidence rather than fear or anxiety.

[00:10:00] Coaching is different from therapy. Therapy is valuable, but coaching offers more hands-on guidance, accountability, and action steps. I help my clients not only talk about change but implement it. And I’m opening up more spots in my one-on-one coaching practice! If you’re ready to go from surviving to thriving, book a free discovery call today:

[00:12:00] God meets us where we’re willing to go. When I was struggling, He didn’t just miraculously change my circumstances—He brought me the right resources. If you’re listening today, maybe I am that resource for you. Will you take the next step in faith?
