S.3 EP.1 - Struggling with Negative Thoughts? 5 Steps for Building Mental Resiliency

Mental resiliency is crucial in being able to take thoughts captive, move through difficult circumstances and continuing to press into the goodness of God.  In this episode, Carla shares the 5 steps that help her  find greater freedom.

Key Takeaways:

Carla opens by sharing about her thorough guide, and encourages you to download it! She then asks “What is mental resiliency?” Psychologists define resilience as “the process to adapt well in the face of adversity.” This can be: trauma, tragedy, threats or significant forces of stress (in the form of relationship problems within family, mental health struggles, financial stressors, etc.

  • How does this all relate to the Christian perspective? Carla shares how Jesus told us we would face adversity and how we are called to run our race and how that takes resilience and an understanding of our purpose (especially when there is an enemy bent on our destruction). Mental resiliency is about being so firmly rooted in God’s identity for us that we can withstand the attacks of the enemy and the trials that come.

  • So the question remains - how do you build resiliency? Carla shares how she, too, used to be led by her circumstances. She cites 2 Corinthians 4:8 as the example of a person who displays faith-based resilience.
