So what is delay?
We often feel so much pressure to have a great start to the new year, even in the midst of doubt and disappointment carried over from the year prior. Delay is exactly that - doubt and disappointment that follows us into new seasons that tends to make us feel like we’re “running behind.”
Waiting in relation to delay - a blessing in disguise.
Often delay is accompanied by a season of waiting or wilderness - seasons in which God almost always reorients our hearts and minds. We make the most of delay by re-syncing our timeline to His. We’re constantly being told that we’re “not on time” by the world but God comes to unload the pressure by establishing His timing.
There’s two kinds of time in the Bible.
Kairos - God’s timing
Chronos - chronological timing
2 Peter 3:8-9 - God clearly lays out that His timing is not like ours! He has abundance and blessing in His Kairos. Delay is a calling to thrive, not a dwelling on disappointment.
So how do we deal with discouragement in delay?
Psalm 5:3 - facing discouragement is an opportunity to engage in intimacy & honesty with God. You can run to the Lord because He is faithful and He will hold your disappointment and He will give you new eyes for it.
John 13:7 - God promises to stir up our faith if we return to Him with our questions in the waiting. He promises to meet us there and refresh us.
Isaiah 55:89 - God is capable of carrying it all in a higher manner than you are! If you want to truly live in God’s will, you have to surrender to God’s time and be willing to go at His pace.
Can CAN handle our tough emotions and ALL of us. Allow Him to take on your tough emotions and redirect you with His promises.
God’s not in a hurry. Remember, our delay may be for someone else's deliverance.
You are not alone.
