[00:00:30] Carla Arges: I am so glad you're here. Let's get started. Hey friends, welcome to this episode of Affirming Truth. I am your host and your friend, Carla Arges I am so excited about today's topic, guys. You guys know how much I tell you, you got to get into the word. You got to study the Bible. I know I hammer that over your head so much.

[00:00:57] Carla Arges: And I know that some of you are [00:01:00] intimidated, which is why I am launching the how to study the Bible course in September. So get on the wait list from the link in the show notes. But today we're going to talk about. Eight ways studying the Bible impacts your entire life. I think sometimes when we think of Bible study, we think of like the super spiritual and all things spiritual, but there are actual.

[00:01:32] Carla Arges: Every day, ripple effects that happen in our life when we study the Bible, and we are going to dive into it. I know you guys have probably heard this scripture before. All scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete.

[00:01:59] Carla Arges: Thoroughly [00:02:00] equipped for every good work. Second Timothy three, 16 to 17. Yes. Scripture is given by inspiration from God. It is profitable for us. But why? But why? It says here that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. Well, let's talk about some of the ways that spending the Bible makes us.

[00:02:26] Carla Arges: Complete and fully equipped for every good work. You know that studying the Bible doesn't simply mean learning more about God, which is amazing and important and one of the benefits, of course. But studying the Bible is so much more than that. Let's get into it. Eight ways studying the Bible impacts your entire life.

[00:02:54] Carla Arges: Number one, the obvious one, learn who God is, [00:03:00] but how does that impact your life? When you learn who God is, you develop deeper faith and trust. You develop. Deeper faith and trust. You are less likely to be tossed around by your circumstances and the trials that you face. Imagine that having such deep faith and trust that you could walk through the fires that come up in your life, knowing that God will be that fourth man in it with you.

[00:03:34] Carla Arges: Number two. This is another obvious one. By studying the Bible, we learn who we are in Him. Well, what does that mean for our life? When we know who we are in Christ, we have greater confidence and boldness, not only to speak about the Word, but to be authentically who [00:04:00] God created us to be. How many of you fear people's judgment?

[00:04:06] Carla Arges: How many of you are people, people pleasers in your life? Imagine being free of that and having confidence and boldness to be exactly who God created you to be. How would your life be impacted? Amazing, right? Number three, studying the Bible renews our mind. What does that mean for us? It means less anxiety, depression, and fear.

[00:04:38] Carla Arges: You know, we talk a lot about those things on this, on this podcast. If you follow me on Instagram, you know, I talk a lot about mental health, not just mental illness, but mental health. Imagine going through your life with less anxiety, depression, and fear. How would you show [00:05:00] up differently? What moves would you make, how would you show up as a mom and wife differently if you weren't riddled by anxiety and fear and depression?

[00:05:14] Carla Arges: The Word of God can be a healing balm for that. Number four, studying the Bible grows us in wisdom. What happens when we have wisdom? We make better choices and decisions. Imagine making decisions not by the fleeting feeling of the moment. Not by pressure from the world, not by just simply what we want, but imagine making decisions and choices in your life, from your relationships to your finances, to your mothering, to your health, to what you watch on [00:06:00] TV, to what you read, all birthed out of the wisdom gained from Christ.

[00:06:08] Carla Arges: How would your life change? Number five, studying the Bible shows us how to live in God's will. It shows us how to live in God's will. Psalm one 19, um, 1 0 5 says, your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. You know how much peace there is being in God's will. You know how much better relationships are when you are walking in God's will, you know how more fulfilled you feel, feel in your season, in your career, in your calling.

[00:06:49] Carla Arges: When you're in the will of God, studying the Bible shows us how to live in God's will. That brings us peace [00:07:00] and improved relationships and ease in our calling. Six, studying the Bible corrects our sins because it brings it to our attention. What does that mean for us? It means restoration and intimacy with God.

[00:07:20] Carla Arges: It means not having something that the devil can use against you for shame and isolation. Intimacy with God, connection with God, restoration, healing, forgiveness. 7. Studying the Bible reminds us of God's promises. And friends, we need to be reminded. Moses, Joshua were constantly reminding the Israelites of the covenant, not just the law that they had to follow, but the blessing and what God [00:08:00] would bring to that.

[00:08:01] Carla Arges: They always were reminding them of the promises. Why? Because being reminded that the promises of God not only brings about right living, right? Not that we can earn it, but out of the. The, the joy of the grace and salvation we've been gifted, but reminding ourselves of God, God's promises, brings us hope and joy.

[00:08:25] Carla Arges: Could you use more joy in your life? Could you be more hopeful in a world that seems to be going down the toilet? Be reminded of God's promises. This is not the end. We have eternity to look forward to. God has already won. He has conquered the grave. He is coming again. Where we got our salvation and while we got our sanctification, we will one day get the glorification promised to us because we are in him.

[00:08:56] Carla Arges: And number eight, studying the Bible [00:09:00] helps us to discern truth that guards us from spiritual deception that would cause us pain and harm and wound us and lead us astray.

[00:09:15] Carla Arges: Guys, are you getting this? Studying the Bible brings you The life that you want, not because it doesn't have trials, it's going to have trials. The Christian life is full of trials, but in the midst of the trial, in the midst of the circumstance, you will have faith and trust and confidence and boldness and less anxiety, less fear.

[00:09:47] Carla Arges: Better choices, better decisions, peace, improved relationships, restoration, intimacy with God, hope, joy, [00:10:00] protection. You cannot afford to neglect studying the Bible and friends Reading the Bible is not the same as studying the Bible Sometimes I talk to women they're like I read the Bible and I have to go back and reread because it's not penetrating That's just reading the Bible.

[00:10:21] Carla Arges: I want you to Study it. I want you to know what God is saying to you. I want you to know how he's revealing himself to you. I want you to know how you can use the Bible in your spiritual warfare against the enemy. Studying the Bible impacts your entire life. You learn who God is, learn who we are in him, renew your mind, grow in wisdom, shows you how to live in God's will, corrects your sin, reminds you of God's promises, helps us to discern truth, and God wants [00:11:00] us in his word.

[00:11:00] Carla Arges: In John 15 11, Jesus says, these things I have spoken to you that you may have joy. And joy to the full. Guys, are you missing joy in your life? Are you missing the fullness of joy of being in Christ brings? Get to know his word, what he's saying to us.

[00:11:29] Carla Arges: Develop in, yes, your spiritual life, but develop in your relationships. Develop in your mental strength. Develop in your resiliency. Develop in your emotional intelligence. Develop in your physical discipline. Through reading the Bible, studying the Bible, letting it penetrate every aspect of your life. It is time to get off the milk, [00:12:00] like Paul would say, and onto the meat.

[00:12:03] Carla Arges: Friends, I want you to be filled on the meat, on the depth and breadth of the Word of God, the richness. It is the lamp to your feet and the light to your path. You don't know where to go? Get in the Word and have a conversation with God about it. Journal your revelations and your questions as you study the Word and let it impact your entire life for your good.

[00:12:39] Carla Arges: Your affirming truth today is I will not neglect Bible study. It is a gift given to me by my heavenly father. And then Psalm 119, 15, it says, I will meditate on your precepts and consider your ways. Friends, [00:13:00] it's time. It's time to go deeper with God. And let the benefit of that spill over into your entire life.

[00:13:12] Carla Arges: And like I said, you don't know where to start in Bible study, start by signing up for the wait list for the Bible study course coming to you in September. It's going to be rich. It's going to be wonderful. It's going to equip you to get into the word. In a way that will transform your life. I'll talk to you later.
